Loading... Please wait...Welcome to the first addition of the Cowra Canowindra wine region newsletter.
Our newsletter is designed to let everyone know what is happening in our beautiful region and of course keep you updated on our wines
Grapes have been grown in the region for over one hundred years however it would be fair to say that the best kept secret in Australian wine has really only developed over the last 20 years.
We now have a dedicated group of boutique producers who are making wines of regional character. This character is just begining to get some recognition around Australia and around the globe with wines from our region awarded more medals during the last 2 years than during the previous 5 years.
We hope you enjoy reading what's going on and we look forward to seeing you here soon!
Regards,
Cowra Wine Region

Meanwhile Cowra's first organic vineyard, Rosnay, has been selected as the official supplier to Australia's only Academy® Accredited Short Film Festival - Flickerfest.
Flickerfest is now engaging companies that are green and organic for all of its supplies, and will be using Rosnay wines at all of its venues including the ten day festival at Bondi in Sydney and extensive national tour, with over 20,000 Flickerfest viewers across Australia between January-March 2010. As part of its sponsorship Rosnay will also be hosting its very own screening of the winning films, under the starry skies of the organic vineyard at Canowindra, in March.
The Flickerfest selection builds Rosnays support of the Arts over many years, whose highlight has been the creation of the "Avant Garden" wine bar and artist space at Peats Ridge Festival since 2006. Attracting over 8,000 people, Peats Ridge Festival is the biggest music and arts festival in the Sydney region and also has a strong sustainability focus. Avant Garden organiser, Sam Statham of Rosnay, said: "The Avant Garden is a unique place for free expression by everyone and anyone, with a glass of good organic wine to help them with progressive thinking. We call it, Progressive Drinking."
For more info on both of these events visit: www.flickerfest.com.au and www.peatsridgefestival.com.au

Our wines recently were awarded more than any other region at the Canberra Wine wise tasting. A great pat on the back to wines from the region
We also managed to get 4 wines from the region in James Halliday’s top 100 NSW wines recently.
Chris shannahan from the Canberra times recently commented
“ Cowra Winemakers …. have the advantage of making realistically priced, soft, easy-to-drink wines that don't need cellaring.”
Thanks Chris we could not agree more with your thoughts!
James Halliday agrees with what is happening in our region and he recently commented about the Windowrie Family Reserve Shiraz
“yet another red from Cowra to challenge (and change) perceptions it is only suited to Chardonnay”
