kalari_130429.jpgKalari is a boutique, family owned vineyard with a Cellar Door nestled amongst the vines and spectacular views over the Lachlan Valley. It is well known in the region for specialising in different  styles from the Verdelho grape, including dry, semi-sweet,dessert wine and fortified ,aptly named “Fortelho”. Pamela and Valto Heikkinen also produce Chardonnay, Semillon, Shiraz,and Cabernet Sauvignon on their 3.5ha vineyard. The Heikkinen’s have been passionate supporters of local arts for many years and the Kalari Cellar Door is also an Art Gallery showcasing a wide variety of local art works and crafts including photography, paintings, embroidery and sculpture.

May & June
“Cowra Archie”
7 May - 27 June

The 5th Annual portrait exhibition,
 with a “People’s Choice Prize” of  $500 and a “Pruner’s Prize “ of   $100. All visitors to the Cellar Door Are encouraged to vote for their favourite portrait.

July & August
“Quilts”
2 July – 29 August

A first time display of quilted pieces made by the local Cowra Art Group Quilters. The works will include table runners, placemats and bags.    

September & October
“The Flowers of Spring”
3 September - 31 October

A display of visual and textile art with afloral theme — eg. paintings, china painting, paper tole, embroidery, tapestry and hand made flowers.

November & December
12th Annual  “Kalari People’s Choice”
5 November - 19 December

Artists from around NSW are invited to participate in this annual exhibition. The artist with the most votes by visitors to the gallery wins the “Kalari  People’s Choice Art Prize” of $500 . An encouragement award of  $100 sponsored by Fiona Morton is presented on the opening night.
